OMG!!

I received a letter from the Academy last weekend. I thought it was another letter advertising some screening or seminar and didn't open it for a couple of days. When I did open it, boy, was I surprised. It was from the president, Sid Ganis. The Academy, for the last 3 years, in conjunction with Good Morning America on ABC, has been showing profiles of members in the weeks before the Oscars. This is to "humanize the Academy by spotlighting individuals who comprise our ranks" and show "real people with opinions, wide-ranging skills and immeasurable talent and expertise." And, guess what? They WANT ME!!! Wow. It will air in February 2008 and I will be sure to LET EVERYONE KNOW. I'm so excited, flattered and thrilled. He also provided a list of people that have been profiled in the past and it is quite a distinguished group. Again, wow.

In normal life, I attended Marie's yarn/craft sale last weekend and, of course, relieved her of many of her yarns -- about $100 worth, I'd say. I got some great stuff and will show photos as I work my way through it. Afterwards, Ellen came over to my house to check out my remodel and yarn stash. She took many photos to show Mr. Larry the remodel and I begged her not to show them to anyone else because I wasn't "expecting company" -- that is, my bed wasn't made, the clothes were all piled in the laundry room and there were dirty dishes in the sink. Not to mention the piles of mail in the office/dining room. My mother would have been appalled. Ellen , god bless her, took it all in stride and did sent me some of the nicer (no mess) photos she had taken.

I've been planning my costume for the WeHo SnB party at the end of the month. I have a few ideas and I better get knitting soon. My projects in work now are The Sock

the Blanket

and the Scarf

The Sock is the Basic Ribbed Sock from Vogue Knitting on the go: Socks Two. I'm using Wildfoote Luxury Sock Yarn, color Master Grey. I had to buy another skein way after I bought the first one and, of course, got a different dye lot, but, what the hell? They are SOCKS!! Whose going to notice? The Scarf is the Chevron Scarf from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts. I'm using two different yarns -- KnitPicks Sock Landscape in Mesa and Tropical Sunrise. The Blanket is from Knit Baby Blankets. It's made with Caron Simply Soft color Embroidery Print(!). It's more like Clowns Gone Crazy.

I finally got Laurie Perry's book and am now about half way through it. It's hilarious, poignant and a lot of fun. She is a member of my SnB group and a WONDERFUL WOMAN. We, as a group, are attending her book signing at Barnes and Noble in the Grove next Thursday. Come early as there will be thousands there to see her.

And it wouldn't be a blog post without a mention and photo of the gorgeous Bella.
